2025: Year in Review

A few days ago, I was joking with my friend that when I look back at 2024: Year in Review, I realize that basically none of my New Year’s Resolutions I have achieved.

My goals for working out… I have started, quit, started, and quit again. It would appear that each of my attempt at working out would last for a few months, then paused by me getting sick, and never restarting until a few months later when I realize how desperately I want to get stronger and fitter. Now, I am again on the second part of the exercise curve. I shall definitely find a way to maintain my motivation in 2026.

As for my other work…

  • Maintain my GPA. Success!
  • Do the September TOEFL and October SAT. Success! I chose not to do the October SAT, however, because I saw no point in spending all the money to travel and do it again.
  • Get to USACO Platinum. Diverted. No longer planning to do this.
  • Get to fruition with my accessibility project. Initial success! Orinav has been released on the App Store, received press coverage, and recognized beyond China.
  • Get a good result in Conrad Challenge. Success!
  • Expand WebArtistry. Diverted. I have now shifted my focus primarily to Project Orinav.
  • Finish learning Linear Algebra and Introduction to Machine Learning. Success!
  • Experience the research process to dive deeper into computer science. Success!

It has also been quite an important year for my family relationships, of all the ups and downs. This year, I have confronted my wounds and began the slow process of healing. More on this later.

With all these in mind, I see that I’m in quite a comfortable position regarding both myself and others. There is still much work to be done, though. I wish to now set my 2026 New Year’s Resolutions 2026, as follows.

For self-improvement, I wish to make exercising a routine. I wish to study a creative writing course. I wish to know how to understand the now and how to analyze the future. I wish to be more confident, even more than before. I shall become the person I want to be.

For school and current work, I wish to get my college results by the end of 2026. But before that, I wish to complete all my goals regarding Project Orinav and Beacon Accessibility Initiative. I wish to earn satisfactory results in Swift Student Challenge. I also wish to be accepted to summer programs of my choice. I shall be prepared for whatever uncertainties lie ahead of me.

For my family and all my loved ones, blessed are you with health and wonder! Blessed are you with success in whatever you do! Your happiness is my utmost wish for 2026.

For the world, may there be peace. May the universal pursuits of freedom, knowledge, democracy, prosperity, diversity, inclusion, and equity continue to shine. May there be less hatred, and more love. May there be less discrimination, and more understanding. May the world be better, and may the world be better because of me.

I am very much looking forward to 2026.
